My Pal

Paul & I went back all the way to school days where we were pretty inseperable.

At JCC we both decided we wanted more than a CSE English so went to night school and both got an O Level in English.  2 Fifth Form lads with a load of middle aged women!! We were very popular!

We shared our first pints together trying to find the pubs who would serve anyone and I remember The Holywell and one at the top of Castle Street.

We used to go to the cinema with Zaba & Kalina and get up to all sorts of mischief and watching The Life of Brian always makes me think of the 4 of us larking about.

We went to see ACDC together for what I think was the first concert for us both.  Back in Black Tour ‘80 at DeMontfort Hall.

Paul should have been my best man when i got married but he was away at sea and sent a telegram on the day which I will look out and post on here.

i knew Paul as “Herb” not “Nice Paul” but what a lovely way to describe one of life’s decent people.

I hadn’t seen Paul for a few years but in 2016 I bought him a ticket for the ACDC tour show in Manchester without asking him first.  Sadly, due to work Paul couldn’t make it.  I wish he had been there with me that night.

Paul, your death has rocked me to the core, not only because we were so close, or because you have gone at a horribly early age but because, yet again, it seems that the good guys go first!

Goodbye old Pal.
